Sheryl Maize
Sheryl Maize brings a unique blend of teaching, playing, and coaching experience with her to the lesson tee at Ben Sutton Golf School. Originally from Chicago, Illinois, Maize's passion for golf ignited at the age of 14 when her family moved to Venice, Florida. Both of her parents loved the game and she didn't want to be left behind! A Florida State High School champion and Junior All-American, Maize played for and captained the top ranked University of Miami women's golf team before competing professionally on the Future's Tour. One of her greatest thrills was competing in the Rainbow Foods LPGA Tour Event at Rush Creek, Minnesota with her dad as her caddy. Maize's playing experience at all levels of golf has given her keen insight into course strategy and the mental aspects of the game.
On June 23, 2005, Maize was inducted into the Venice Sports Hall of Fame in her hometown of Venice, Florida. "To be the first female inductee is an honor," says Maize. "I hope more women are encouraged to participate and achieve their goals in the game of golf." Maize is also one of the nation's first certified CardioGolf™ instructors---a unique program designed to blend proper golf swing fundamentals with a great work out.
Passionate about developing young players, Maize served as the Head Women's Golf Coach at the University of Memphis for the 2002-2003 season. Prior to Memphis, she also served as the Head Women's Golf Coach at Augsburg College in Minneapolis for two seasons. Because of her dedication and enthusiasm for junior golfers, Maize enjoys teaching and speaking at various Fellowship of Christian Athlete junior golf camps throughout the country. She has also been actively involved in several LPGA-USGA Girls Golf Club events in Minnesota and Tennessee. Maize is also the co-founder of Chicks & Sticks Specialty/Corporate Clinics for Women in the Minneapolis/St. Paul region, and has been with Ben Sutton Golf School since 1999.
From beginner to accomplished player, Maize is committed to equip each of her students with solid fundamentals, confidence and a practice plan for success.
