Born and raised in Ontario, Canada, Judy Sams' passion for golf began at the age of 13 when she was introduced to the game by her parents. Throughout her amateur career, Sams won various Ontario Junior and Ontario Women's Amateur events and competed in annual Canadian events.
In college, Judy lettered all four years in golf while playing on a golf scholarship at The Ohio State University. Sams turned professional in 1980 after graduating with her Bachelor of Science degree in education and competed on the WPGT (mini tour) for 2 years before qualifying for the LPGA tour in 1982. Sams played tournament golf on the LPGA from 1982 to 1987 and again from 1992 to 1995. In 1983, she finished second at the LPGA Rail Charity Classic, losing in a playoff.
In addition to her playing experience and accomplishments, Sams has been giving lessons since 1988 and has been teaching at Ben Sutton Golf School since 2002.
What the students have to say about Judy
Judy was just what I needed...low key, calm - able to make it sound simple & something I could remember. All of the staff went over & above to make our time pleasant & fun. Thanks for giving me the confidence to enjoy the game.
Apr. 10-14, 2011 - 4 day school
Just wanted you to know my golf school experience was wonderful! I had so much fun and learned so much because I am such a beginner. Kristine and Judy took good care of me. I wish your school much success and hope to return one day.
Feb 3-6, 2011 - Private Lessons
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Judy Sams and her VERY personal instruction! Without doubt, I am a better golfer! I shot a 92 last week...not bad for someone who's been scoring 105-115 for the last three years! Whenever I think I'm losing it, I just play my DVD and it all comes back to me!
Oct. 14-16, 2010 - 2 day school
Enjoyed our week immensely! Judy Sams was a terrific teacher. We certainly hope you will continue your Florida school somewhere next year, as we would love to come back!

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know what has happened since seeing you for the 3 day school at the beginning of July. After the last day of school, I played nine holes with Dave and Scott and shot a 2-under 34. It was the most relaxed 9 holes I think I have ever played. Since that day, I have played 5 times and my handicap has gone from a 4.9 at the start of golf school to a 3.4 just three weeks later!
I am grateful for the time you spent with me to work on the areas that needed help, specifically, position at impact and holding it a bit longer, and knock down shots. I have played much more consistent golf lately, especially coming down the last holes of a round, and I know that I have you to thank for that. In the days after the school, I was wishing that I had come for more than a 3-day school. I guess I will just have to come back for another school sometime.
You are a fantastic instructor to work with on improving the golf swing. You do a great job of explaining, in many different ways, how certain aspects of the swing should feel and look so that everyone understands completely. I felt like I had the perfect amount of instruction followed by just the right amount of time to practice and process the information for myself.
Thanks again for your patience, time, and effort. It was greatly appreciated and left me knowing that if there is another golf school in my future, there is only one place and one instructor that I will consider. Hope this finds you well, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
