Don Miller

Don Miller was introduced to golf at the age of 9 by his brother who was a caddy at the local country club. As soon as Miller was old enough he began to caddy at the same club. After high school Miller received a golf scholarship to the University of Florida. While at the University of Florida he was a three-year letterman and lead the team to three conference championships.

After college, Miller earned his PGA tour card and played on the PGA Tour from 1964 to 1966 and won various sectional events including the Northern Ohio PGA Sr. Match Play championship. Miller is a Life Member of the PGA of America.

Before joining the Ben Sutton Golf School staff in 2005, Miller began his teaching career as an assistant at the White Face Inn (Lake Placid, New York) and the Chevy Chase Club (Chevy Chase, Maryland). He spent 5 years as the head golf professional at Wooster Country Club (Wooster, Ohio) before "coming home" to Congress Lake Club (Hartville, Ohio).

At Congress Lake Club, Miller served as the head golf professional for 26 years and was the golf director for two years before retiring in 2002. He was honored as "Golf Ambassador" at Congress Lake Club and is only the third honoree and the first golf professional in the club's 108 year history to receive this distinction. Miller was awarded "Life Membership" and given the title of Professional Emeritus.

Miller also had the pleasure of a 20-year friendship with the late Jack Grout, Sciota Country Club, Columbus, Ohio. This student-teacher relationship formulated Miller's approach to teaching and playing the game. Miller's career has been filled with many highlights - winning various sectionals, playing courses all over the country, receiving awards and accolades - but the real highlight for him has been the opportunity to teach the game he loves to so many people.
